Conferences
PAFTAD conferences, generally held every 18 months, are each organised around a clearly defined theme. PAFTAD’s International Steering Committee, with the assistance of major research and academic institutions in the host country, sets the theme, defines research plans and commissions research papers. Researchers are given up to two years to carry out their research before presentation for discussion and refinement at the PAFTAD conference.
It is through discussion and debate at conference that PAFTAD research papers are refined and prepared for publication as part of the PAFTAD Conference series. This collection of volumes includes work which has had a very far-reaching impact on policy thinking in the Pacific region, both within governments and in regional organizations such as APEC and the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council.
The most recent PAFTAD themes, locations, programs and draft papers are available below.
